PHECC First Aid Response (FAR) Instructor Course
The PHECC First Aid Response Instructor course is designed to equip experienced responders with the knowledge and instructional skills required to design, deliver and evaluate First Aid Response training in accordance with the PHECC FAR Education and Training Standard and Clinical Practice Guidelines.
This programme prepares candidates to teach, assess and certify learners to the national First Aid Response standard.

Course Structure
The programme consists of:
- Two days of classroom-based instructor training
- A structured monitoring phase
During the monitoring phase, candidates must:
- Observe a First Aid Response course
- Assist in course delivery
- Deliver a FAR course under supervision
Successful completion of all monitored components is required for full instructor certification.
Course Content
The First Aid Response Instructor course covers:
- Instructional design and lesson planning
- Effective teaching methodologies
- Assessment and evaluation of learners
- PHECC FAR Education and Training Standard
- Alignment with PHECC Clinical Practice Guidelines
- Documentation and administrative requirements

Course Details
Duration
- Two days of classroom-based instructor training
- Followed by completion of the monitored teaching phase
Total duration will depend on scheduling of monitored sessions.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the course and monitoring phase, participants receive joint PHECC and Medicore First Aid Response Instructor certification.
Certification is valid for two years in accordance with awarding body requirements.
Assessment
Candidates are evaluated on their ability to:
- Design and deliver First Aid Response training
- Assess learners against PHECC standards
- Demonstrate effective instructional technique
- Meet documentation and compliance requirements
Certification is granted only after successful completion of the monitored teaching requirements.

Who’s It For
This course is intended for individuals who wish to become certified First Aid Response instructors and who already hold the appropriate clinical and instructional qualifications.
It is suitable for:
- Certified First Aid Responders seeking instructor status
- Practitioners with relevant pre-hospital qualifications
- Existing instructors wishing to expand their scope to FAR
Requirements
Participants must hold:
- A valid First Aid Responder certificate or a recognised practitioner-level qualification
- A valid Cardiac First Response Instructor certificate
Eligibility and documentation will be verified prior to enrolment.
Method of delivery
The course is delivered in English and includes:
- Face-to-face instruction
- Structured presentations
- Role-play scenarios
- Teaching simulations
- Supervised instructional practice
All required course materials are provided.
Renewal
To maintain instructor status, instructors must:
- Deliver a minimum of four courses within the two-year certification period
- Complete a monitored teaching session with a faculty member
Failure to meet activity requirements may affect certification status.
